A Room of One’s Own: Journaling to find some space

Journaling space

Virginia Woolf wrote about a Room of One’s Own — a space to be with yourself.

Journaling is a way to carve out some much needed, private-reflective time for yourself.

Now more than ever, we need to take some time to reflect on what is working for us — and what’s not.

These past four months have stopped us from our busy dashing- here and there.

Now, that the busy is gone and our new normal is, well— normal; do you find that you are searching the web for something… different? Are you searching for some connection that is deeper, more meaningful, more Heartful?

sacred practice of creative journaling.
What I love best about creative journaling: is that it gives you a place to muse, wonder, and dream.

By simply, putting a pencil, pencil, or paint to some paper, you can toss out ideas and process feelings that may be surfacing. You may Even gain some clarity on what’s missing.

In my blog, How journaling can free your Mind (and Heart), I shared a few different ways you can journal. Also I shared how my favorite way to journal is to use pencils, pastels, and paint, to get some space and freedom in my heart and mind.

If you want to untangle some of those swirling thoughts in your mind, and connect what is relevant again, gather some inexpensive supplies that you have lying around and start your sacred practice of creative journaling.

I recommend using inexpensive art supplies, so you stay focused on your process and not the preciousness of your supplies*

Are you feeling called to Free your mind and your heart?

Yes!

Here are some basic creative journaling tools.

Although old makeup and a paper bag will do, here is a few other suggestions:
Colored pencils or Oil Pastels or Small set of Kids Tempera Paint, Paint Brush, and Paper. You can work at your kitchen counter, if you get some peace there. Or carve out a little creative journaling space of your own somewhere in your home.

As you begin explore the space in your heart with creative journaling…

Notice how you feel in your body. Do you feel calmer? Steadier? Do you notice your eyes twinkling a bit more?

Touching shame

Feel free to share about your journaling experience with me in the comments below. I would love to read about it. xx
