A Beginner's Guide

You have listened to something deep within you that has called you here; calling you to explore what it means to connect back in with yourself and listen to your heart!

This Beginner's guide addresses common questions from people that have gone through the program. 

When we begin something new, it can be exciting, and at the same time, doubts, anxiety, or fears may be stirring in you. This is natural. It is your mind trying to help you understand what is happening. 

For now, if you can, acknowledge how you feel and what you are thinking. If you start to get overwhelmed, take some slow deep breaths. 

Trust your decision to explore and connect back to yourself.

"So What Do I Have To Do?"

During this program, we will be talking about some terms that you may not have heard before, like " coming back into your body," Breath, Belly, Feet." These terms are used to convey a process, or an experience, and help us communicate with one another.

You don't have to know what they mean to start this program. We will be exploring these terms along with other goodies together later.

You are in a safe space where you will be guided and supported.

All you have to do is:

  • Show up for yourself

  • Attend the sesseions

  • Allow yourself room to explore

  • Prepare for the adventure of self discovery: like packing a suitcase, you’ll need certain supplies!

Fun Stuff and Supplies: The many ways to express all that's in your heart.

The chances are that you are already comfortable with one type of expression, such as writing, speaking, painting, movement, singing, or all of the above.

Choose what sounds like the most fun or the least intimidating.

There is no right or wrong.

Some supplies that can help you express what your heart and body want to share can be found around the house, such as colored pens, pencils, markers.

You may want to treat yourself to a beautiful journal as a physical and special place where you can keep all your expressions of yours! It doesn't need to be expensive, just something that makes you feel good.

We always have music as part of the experience, and you are invited to move as you wish.

Most of all, relax and enjoy. You are safe.

Creating a safe space to explore

When we gather, you will need a quiet space free from interruption so that you can relax into your experience.

You may want to make your room welcoming but having a nice candle or some sage. Using our senses is one way to signal to our mind that we are coming back into our body.

What does a safe, supportive and environment look like?

Tools of the Heart is an individual journey back to your Self. Although you will be in a group setting, you will always have the choice to share or not to share your experience, thoughts, and feelings. The environment is a judgment-free zone, and everything stays within the group. The group setting is important because even though you may not initially know anyone, everyone participates in the practices, learning, exploring these tools, and energetically supporting your journey. Some women have even found it liberating to finally share their true feelings and experiences with others that will not judge them.

Practical Techniques: No Experience Required! 

No experience with painting, drawing, writing is required. We will not be focused on producing a "beautiful" painting, drawing, or grammar-perfect document.

Rather, we will be focusing more on the process and how we can connect inwards and express without expectations of how something should look like.

Throughout this program, we will explore visualization, breathing, journaling, movement, and artistic expression. It is not about perfection. As you use these tools to tune in and express yourself, you are invited to share your thoughts, joys, fears, and discoveries with others learning and practicing together. 

The goal here is to lovingly listen to the still yet powerful voice of your heart and reconnect with your authentic self in the process.
