Remember to Breathe
Some of us are stunned, shocked, and reeling by the implications of the US election outcome and, let's face it, the continued repercussions of a millennium of patriarchal rule.
I refuse to let this outcome breed more division and hate. (Which is easy to say, as a white, old lady that is so queer in so many ways). Permitting to be mean and hateful and divisive doesn't just hurt some of us, but all of us as that division ripples out to our planet and future generations. If we allow hate and division to take root, we risk perpetuating a cycle of conflict and suffering that will affect not just us, but also our children and their children. We must unite, show compassion and understanding, and heal to move forward.
It's okay to feel anger, frustration, and sadness. But when you're ready, remember that you have the power to choose. Step outside and express your appreciation and love for the world and all beings. Act with love, for it is the antidote to hate and fear. This choice is yours, and it can make a difference.
The phrase 'Love heals hate' may sound cliché. Some might dismiss it as magical thinking, but I can't see any other way forward.
