Following the muck :: Soulscape
The beauty of intuitive creation is you don't need to guide the process; you just let have to allow the process to unfold.
Today, as we move towards the calendar New Year's, I wanted some insight for my New Year's reflection. Not the to-do list, although I wouldn't mind that, some space to reflect.
For most of my time with this painting session (insight session), I was lead to put layer upon layer, of paint and words, which creating muck.
Feelings flowed onto the paper, letting them have a voice, and not censoring what is emerging — going towards what I am feeling, not trying to make it a happy- bright painting. Cause I know part of the healing journey in each painting is the little bit of insight that arises.
I finished the painting, blew out the candle, but still felt unsettled, so I went back to my body, what else needs to be expressed? I continued to paint and write what I was feeling; in turn feeling into my body what I am painting. Lonely. Gray. Unclear. Confused. Mixed with a little bit of hopeless.
And then, I realized the energy of the painting changed, I was being shown that I am not alone, and I am much I am part of something much bigger. FInally I feeling settled.
Honestly, I don't know what is the insight is— feeling apart or feeling part of. There is no clear sign to finishing a painting. You can finish too early, of feel that you are finished cause your mind tells you so or feeling something is finished cause there was a happy ending. A painting is complete, when it feels right for you.
Creative healing happening in little ah-ha moments.
